It's called The Last American Man, by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's basically an autobiography about this guy that leaves home at 17 and goes to the woods. He lives off the land--a mountain man of sorts. If you want to know more, Google Eustace Conway. I believe he has a website. It has been a VERY interesting book. What a nut!!! My idea of roughing it is Motel 6! Good to hear from you.
